Bob Baker – Bob has an unrelenting passion for organizations where missions are achieved and people can thrive. He is a keen observer of organizational life and a skilled designer of effective systemic solutions. Moreover, his background as a family therapist yields valuable insight to the unseen motivations and assumptions that shape the culture of the organization.
Bob’s interaction with clients is marked by genuine care and concern for the human element. He believes that goals are best achieved when values are aligned with practice and works to insure that the human cost is never bankrupted in pursuit of the mission.
Prior to TurningWest, Bob served in leadership roles with a variety of business and non-profit organizations. After an early career in the people-helping arena, he built and led a highly successful executive search agency with operations throughout the Western US. This search firm was particularly noted for their ability to determine cultural fit, and for their placement rate of more than triple the national average.
Bob’s educational background facilitates his multi-faceted perspectives on organizations and leaders. He has an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Organization Development from Benedictine University, where he co-authored the Organizational Values Assessment for their Center for Values-Driven Leadership. His undergraduate degree in music is from Grand Canyon University and he has more than 1000 music and theater performances to his credit, ranging from college jazz bands to professional opera companies (who knew?).
When not working, writing, or enjoying time with family, Bob is an avid sports fan, amateur chef, and budding cyclist. Bob’s wife, Deb, is a professor and practitioner of social work, and they are the proud parents of Rachel and Rebecca.
